We were finally able to get everyone together for 20 minutes to take a group photo. Here we are gathered around the big drum that holds our thousands of red wriggler worms. They live in and eat the shredded and dampened corrugated cardboard from the pizza boxes that come through our building. Those boxes would otherwise be trashed and sent to a landfill due to the grease and food remnants. These little guys prevent that, and their waste makes for a fantastic fertilizer!

One challenge I almost regret setting is the one where I conserve water by only flushing when necessary. It can sure make a restroom smell, and it makes me have to clean it more often.

Have you seen Man Fire Food on Netflix?  It talks about how Roger Mooking travels the US to showcase the many creative ways people cook with fire.  Looks interesting.

Had a party tonight to celebrate my wife's birthday. Only washable flatware, plates, and cups were used. That means a lot of dishes for me in the morning, but it feels good to know we had minimal waste!

On 10/14 Pacific Continental Bank accepted our challenge to an EcoChallenge competition! So, we are now in competition with that team from PCB, the Trash Talkers from Waste Connections of Washington, and Go Green for Dilly. Respectively, the point totals for these teams today are: 8763, 1673, 2044, and 3679 for the Beaverton Greenies. That puts us in 2nd place currently out of 4 teams. Go GREEN TEAM!
