Create Your Own Action
Avoid the Hook
I will not follow the news on TV, print or social media. Instead, I will research for myself, information to make decisions on voting, weather, or confirmation of recent events. I will avoid, as much as possible, any form of media led by advertising, as it takes up to an hour of my day to get "some" of the information, and the many commercials promote unnecessary spending, and environmental recklessness, ie, buy the disposable, and items with planned obsolescence. Kill your TV!

Roger Frazier 10/28/2016 9:33 AMWell, here we are at the end of the challenge. And while I am motivated to continue, I will miss using my Dashboard to remind me what I need to be doing and thinking about. And when will I get to do this again? Next year? That's too long. I would like to see this grow to where it is done quarterly, with many green industries offering prizes for participation and most improved scores. Overall, I have enjoyed this challenge. My awareness has greatly increased, with my desire to do it moving from, "how does this help me", to understanding how this helps the community. This is bigger than me. It's local effort with global results. Thank you for having the ECOCHALLENGE. And thank you to all of you that contributed, and hats off to all those who have committed to a new way of living. Yours in spirit, in nature and in love, Brother Rog. -
Roger Frazier 10/27/2016 9:19 AMHad a great visit with my doctor. She is encouraged by my effort to complete my eco challenge. All of these efforts are having a huge positive impact on my perception of my daily life. The routine has purpose. The mundane is now interesting and something to share with others. I am really excited about continuing this challenge on a more permanent basis. I think being able to blog about it helps the most as it validates my experience and gives me a chance to look back at other posts and see how far I have come in taking a responsible and caring attitude toward my personal impact on our collective environment. -
Roger Frazier 10/25/2016 4:19 PMWorking on this project has brought an awareness of my actions and my impact on the world around me. I now see the direct positive effect my few actions have. I am excited to further commit to this way of living, where I can make positive contributions, lead by example, and help others to become aware of how they too can have a successful journey that has such wonderful benefits for our lives and the environment. -

Roger Frazier 10/24/2016 6:46 AMSunday, a traditionally laid back day, was good. I made it through the weekend and did not watch any football on TV. I read books, did yard work, and spent time with the kids. I need more weekends like this! -
Roger Frazier 10/24/2016 6:43 AMMulch was easy and cheap. Looks great too! Relatively easy task if you have a pickup truck. Purchase the mulch, by the yard. Take it home and spread it out! -
Roger Frazier 10/24/2016 6:40 AMFriday has me thinking more about the weekend than, the Eco challenge. So my task is to make them both as important and plan accordingly. -
Roger Frazier 10/21/2016 4:28 PMToday was tough. Used store bought lunch, so I had lots of debris to throw away after lunch. On top of that, it wasn't the best nutritional choice I could have made. I did talk with my doctor today about goals and needs. So I am very happy about that. Now, can I get through the weekend and complete my goals? -
Roger Frazier 10/20/2016 10:48 AMNew goals are becoming habits! I am beginning to do the things I committed to more naturally, without the reminders I put in place for me. Still working on the Family. I am enjoying this, as previously, I really didn't see how my behavior impacted this world one way or the other. -
Roger Frazier 10/19/2016 9:29 AMAs I pay attention to whether the water is running or not while brushing my teeth, and 5 minutes showers, I have found extra minutes in my daily routine. Also, I am excited about the prospect of lower water bills. I am talking with my family about this so that they too can have the benefit of extra time and the inner knowledge that they did something good to help with our enormous environmental challenge that we face as the ruling species every day.
