Sails to shade
I am on the Board of Ed for the Preschool at church and have a project to provide some shade in the Playground. I thought repurposing old sail boat sails to use as providing a shade for the play ground would be a unique way to do that. I am on a mission to locate old sails to turn into a shade for the preschool play ground which is out in the direct sun. I have already asked an architect's help (my son's college room mate) once I find the sails -which I think I have found just recently from a my husbands old high school friend. Then, once we get the design we will ask for donations or use our planned fund raisers to buy the building materials to make safe and sturdy stands. We will use an Eagle Scout to assist with the building of the shade with the troop connected with the church. I picked this project because it uses the reuse concept and involves the community of adults and children of all ages to come together in work and play to make something that was going to be thrown away better for all of us and keep the little children safer and healthier, for little or no cost except for our time and a few folks (architect and Eagle Scout) get a couple of good things on their resume' at the same time, while the rest of us get a lot of good times under our belt!
