I thought meeting the "no disposable plates, cups, or cutlery" challenge wouldn't be too hard, but I'm realizing how often it's out of my control. I went to a training where lunch was served in all to-go packaging (even though it was catered onsite) and then to dinner with colleagues where the drinks were served in to-go cups (even though we were eating in). At least I was able to avoid one disposable cup with my coffee mug this morning! :)

In addition to asking our co-workers to sign up online, we added a physical board where people could write the EcoChallenge actions they planned to take. It's a great visual, and shows the diversity of actions that people are taking across categories.

We left an apple and some chocolates at co-workers' desks who had signed up for the EcoChallenge - to thank them for participating and encourage others to sign up as well. It was well-received!

One of my challenges is to not use any disposable take-out items, which will be difficult since I’m traveling and have guests in town during the EcoChallenge. I’ll be eating out more, and the portions are often so large I end up requesting to-go containers for leftovers. So I’m aiming to put a stack of re-usable food containers near my front door and at my desk at work, so I can grab one to put in my bag when heading out.

I just added a daily calendar reminder about my challenges each morning Oct 14-28th - now I have no excuse of forgetting!
