At Columbia Springs, our mission everyday is to help others better understand how they can greater appreciate, experience, and care for our natural world. But we also want to model this as an organization, in addition to just teaching others about it. For this year's EcoChallenge we will: 1. Install a rain barrel in our compost demonstration site to use as a teaching example of water conservation, and also to water our native plants. 2. Create additional habitat for birds on our site by installing bird houses and bird feeders in public viewing spaces. 3. Having one staff member a day share an "EcoFact" to expand our imagination and deepen our knowledge of local ecology, waste reduction, sustainable food systems, etc.
