Lisa Appel 10/28/2016 7:16 PMI did pretty well with avoiding disposable cups. I met this goal all days except one. The dashboard is a good reminder that this all adds up! Walking each day super fun! Although I wasn't able to do it midday as I had hoped. The challenge that I did not succeed at was the work-life balance. I need to re-double my efforts on this one, and I will continue beyond the challenge! -
Lisa Appel 10/26/2016 9:58 AMOn Monday, I was unprepared and was caught without a reusable mug. This was a good reminder to keep extra mugs in all the right places! Purse, car, office...I am inspired to see office mates using their mugs - pretty cool!

Lisa Appel 10/17/2016 6:06 PMIt was an interesting and enlightening "waste management facility" tour for Port of Portland employees for Eco Challenge today. The PDX Central Waste Area manages the waste of about 10,000 people a day and offers many options for recycling and reuse. I had visited this area before, but I learned even more about our bucket wash station and grease recycling options. I was really impressed that PDX airport concessions have donated about 143,000 meals through the food donation program partner Urban Gleaners since 2013. They are currently donating just over 1 ton of food per month! This is a fun group shot outside the central waste area. -

Lisa Appel 10/14/2016 1:30 PMDoing this again, only using a reusable cup for coffee! I am doing this because its an easy way to reduce waste and just takes a little planning.

Lisa Appel 10/06/2016 3:53 PMI plan to take a walk everyday! I usually do this in the evening, but my challenge will be to do a lunchtime walk too. Walking is relaxing and good for my health. -
