Mariana Chinellato 10/27/2016 10:05 PMI completed the Energy Star energy audit for my home! I think it's a basic one but it's a good start. It tracks your annual electricity and natural gas use, it then compares it to similar households, and gives you advice on how to reduce usage. It also gives you the annual pollution resulting from energy use in your household. The audit and other resources can be found here: https://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=home_improvement.hm_improvement_audits -

Mariana Chinellato 10/24/2016 11:26 AMI spent some time cleaning up my closet (which I've been meaning to do for a while) and I now have some clothes and shoes to donate. I've been looking into where to take them and I think I'll go with the Oakland Elizabeth House, a residence for women with children who have experienced homelessness, violence, addiction and/or poverty. -

Mariana Chinellato 10/21/2016 9:02 PMFriday movie night! We watched Forks over Knives, a documentary that discusses how changing diets from animal-based to plant-based can help control, and even eliminate diseases like cancer and diabetes. My fiancée and I then talked about how even though we've reduced our meat consumption a fair amount over the last year or so (being from Brazil and Argentina we both grew up with a diet heavy on meat), we are still eating more animal-based foods than we should. It's not easy, but we know we need to try to switch to more unprocessed food, aka fruits and vegetables.
