Savannah Dee 10/28/2016 4:12 PMToday we went grocery shopping and found a co-op that let us use jars to buy food. Our shop was almost completely package free aside from the rubber bands on a few veggies! I was so proud that we were able to do that, and we will continue to do so from now on. -
Savannah Dee 10/24/2016 11:18 PMToday my grandma came for dinner and brought disposable dishware "so I didn't have to wash any dishes". I chose not to use the disposable products and got a plate from my cupboard, but it reminded me how much of an impact we have just by participating in every day life. Buying disposable plates wasn't a choice I made, but one that someone else made for me that I had no control over. My family went to the pumpkin patch today and brought our own jars for coffee and refused plastic bags for our pumpkins(why would we need that anyway?" I like supporting a local farm as well! -
Savannah Dee 10/23/2016 6:37 PMAnother great day. The kids and I spent some time at the park, and avoided all disposables by packing our own snacks/water! -
Savannah Dee 10/21/2016 10:52 PMThis challenge has been more of a struggle for me than I expected...which is probably why I haven't updated much! However, today was a win. I brought my own cup with me to get coffee, which even scored me a discount. I spent most of the day outside with my kids and we had a blast. My 4 year old and I put together a "nature box" of things we found on the ground (leaves, sticks, flowers) and it was so fun to see the things he was fascinated by. -
Savannah Dee 10/15/2016 4:23 PMThe first day of the challenge didn't go as well as I hoped! I was out to lunch at a restaurant with my family and all of my son's food was served in disposable tableware(plate, cup, etc.) I guess I learned my lesson that even sitting in at a restaurant I should ask ahead of time that no disposable cups or plates be used. I also spend some time outside in the rain, digging in the mud with my son yesterday! We were soaking wet when we came inside but we made a pretty big dent in the weeds that needed to come up in our backyard ;)
