Participation in the Eco Challenge is related to my view of my legacy.  I will have a relatively small tenure on this planet.  I will consume and utilize quite a bit of its resources, some not renewable.  How will I leave it?  Will it be better off or worse off.  The Eco Challenge is one to focus me more on the ways I can become a source of "betterment" rather than a sink of "worseness".

I love that you mention legacy, Cecil. A great question that all of us ask ourselves t some point is, what kind of ancestor do I want to be? Ancestor here can be defined as narrowly as someone who comes before descendants with whom we share a bloodline or a name, or it can be as broad as to include our connection to all people who come after us, or even to all species that come after us.

It's a question I come back to every now and then, and the answers that bubble up inevitably renew my focus on finding new things to learn, new things I can do better, and the simple joys that I should never take for granted. I am reminded of why I became so passionate about sustainability, and I know I always will be. Defining our own legacies by how we help others, even those we will never know, is a wonderful way to frame our actions.

      Anyway, welcome to the team!
