Well I made a few small changes this week that I think will stick with me:
No running water while brushing teeth - I never realized what an impact that made
Less showering - Don't have to feel guilty or lazy for not showering
Turn off lights - It's already my habit to turn off the light when I leave the room but I spent time these weeks following my son and making sure he wasn't leaving everything on in every room
I attended a LEED certification seminar last night - it was amazing! I really want to get more involved in sustainable building and systems design

Natalie Divine 10/27/2016 2:24 PMI have a long day today with school and an evening LEED training and I brought all my food from home in recyclable aluminum and reusable baggies. I brought two different drinks in reusable containers. I live next to a grocery store and it is easy to buy food when I don't really need it, but this week I have focused on finishing everything I have, cooking bulk items, and generally eating less. -
Natalie Divine 10/26/2016 9:30 PMI had a great walk to the library after school today with my son. I also (while out of class for in-service day) visited my friend and walked around his neighborhood for a couple of hours...It was really nice but glad I wore my rain boots! -
Natalie Divine 10/24/2016 9:53 PMI love this weather! I like to open the windows and then when it gets chilly at night, I turn on the heaters in two rooms for a little while before bed. This week I've decided I can just bundle up instead. I got out my box with slippers and warmer pajamas and it is cozy, no need for heaters. I pass a lot of homeless people in my neighborhood and when the weather changes I always wonder where some of them go, or if they have anywhere to go. Feeling the weather change (in my own apartment, instead of letting the heaters kick in) seems like a small way to stay more connected to the environment and maybe people who don't have the option of heaters. -
Natalie Divine 10/23/2016 10:34 PMI didn't shower all weekend! Yay, now it's not just me being lazy, it's for a good cause. -
Natalie Divine 10/22/2016 3:48 PMMy son and I have been conscious of turning off the water while brushing teeth. This is a bad habit that I have because I like to rinse my mouth and keep brushing. And then he likes to play with the water. -
Natalie Divine 10/22/2016 3:44 PMEveryday this week I walked my son to school and walked to pick him up. It's only a few blocks but it's easier to drive if I'm on my way somewhere or on my way home (or it's raining). So I talked to him about why we were gonna try to always walk too. -
Natalie Divine 10/20/2016 1:41 PMI've been cooking more this week to avoid buying packaged food. Last night I made soup and cooked my son's meal and food for both of our lunches today. I enjoy homecooked food, I just don't always allot myself time to plan ahead and cook for the week. -
Natalie Divine 10/19/2016 2:26 PMInstead of picking up my son at school and driving to the library before going home, I parked at home, walked to his school to get him, and we walked to the library and home together. It was really nice, this is my favorite time of year to walk around the neighborhood and look at leaves and who has Halloween decorations up. -
Natalie Divine 10/18/2016 2:21 PMI rode the bus over the weekend instead of driving. Me and my son went with friends on an outing to OMSI and learned all about our environment and space! we walked about 1 mile and rode the bus for about 3 miles. I didn't realized each day was a separate log in/post so I'm writing my blog now.
