Kristen Garrison 10/25/2016 12:31 PMOff to a great start this week! Went to the store and used my reusable bags and found out that we have a compost bin that was left by the previous renter that my roommate found in the garage rafters. So today I will figure out how to use and set up the compost bin for our household. Our house over all has less trash and more recycling over the past few weeks. The hardest challenge is trying to get the roommates to realize how their bad habits impact out environment. -

Kristen Garrison 10/22/2016 10:20 PMI was finally able to get out to my garden today and spent some time trimming my roses. I also ran errands today, I remembered and used the reusable bags I have, I even made a spot in the back of my car to keep them so I can use them with future purchases. -
Kristen Garrison 10/20/2016 1:15 PMI was very happy this week when I took out the garbage. We had only half a bag of trash and the recycling bin was absolutely packed full! I posted a list of all the recyclables for my roommates to follow and it's been working quite well 😃-
Kim Smith 10/20/2016 4:04 PMIt's a great idea that you posted a list for your roommates. All it often takes is just some education and making the process easy. Good job on getting your garbage down to half a bag.

Kristen Garrison 10/18/2016 7:55 PMToday I had a lot of shipping to do. I used all recycled boxes and packing material that I have saved from previous packages and didn't need to purchase any additional shipping materials. I also found out where I can recycle plastic shopping bags I had laying around the house. -
Kristen Garrison 10/17/2016 10:05 AMWith this last storm we had quite a bit of yard clean-up to do. We had a fallen tree that will not go to waste broke it down into firewood and it will be used to heat our house during the winter. I also replaced all the rest of the old light bulbs to new energy efficient LED light bulbs. I also found out through the Oregon Energy Trust you can order a free energy saving kit that includes a water-saving shower head and and LED bulbs. All for free! It's worth checking out, can't go wrong with free! -
Kristen Garrison 10/15/2016 12:58 PMToday I enjoyed a meatless breakfast and continued with 5min showers. I am really enjoying exploring challenges! I plan to pick up some more LED light bulbs today and replace the rest of the old bulbs throughout the house tomorrow.-
Kim Smith 10/15/2016 1:23 PMGood job! It is fun reading your progress.

Kristen Garrison 10/14/2016 8:54 AM5-min showers: I actually timed my shower yesterday and took about an 8min shower normally . Today I found that about 5min is just enough time to do everything I need to do. I will defiantly try and keep on on taking shorter showers from now on to save more water.
