I still have a long way to go to eliminating the packing waste with my food purchases. It's a true life challenge and one that REALLY annoys me, so here's to keeping up the challenge until I've really made it happen in a significant way!

Today is a great example  of a day when it's going to be a challenge to get in a walk, with a full day of work, heavy rain in the forecast for evening and an exercise class at the end of the day. However, I gave myself the walk challenge because I walk OUTSIDE and I find being outside helps me sleep better, feel more grounded and promotes relaxation.
Focusing on the benefits helps motivate me to  make it happen. Is this enough for others?

With all the rain, I took the time to empty some gutters yesterday and it didn't take as long as I thought! Good to keep the water flowing, add to the compost pile and enjoy the beautiful fall colors.

How fabulous to attend a PCC retreat and see sustainable event practices in action, including PCC garden-sourced soup and salad, vegan pumpkin muffins and durables (no disposables!).  PCC Sustainability Leadership Council WALKS ITS TALK!

I chose "buy more bulk foods" because it's really a challenge, especially for a family of four. And because I want to reuse bags, etc. but in a sanitary way. The most frustrating thing I face every day is packaging, even if I buy local, organic, sustainable. How can we influence grocers more to consider the impact of all the packaging?

I agree Heidi! I just started a new job and am trying to pack a lunch everyday. I'm really trying to reuse all my bags instead of using new ones every day. Not only am I saving money but also helping the emvironment. I do no that Fred Meyers is very conscious of the practice bags used to pack groceries. We have reusable bags for sell and the checkstands and when the Fred Meyer ones wear out customers can replace them for free.

I challenged myself to get to know a new nonprofit and thanks to my colleague, Hannah, I'm learning more about a local farm where my class may be able to volunteer! I feel very fortunate to know such amazing people in the PCC community!
