David Wright 10/28/2016 12:55 PMFinal check-in after failing to post the last few days... Sorry team! Overall it was a good two weeks of the eco challenge in which I developed a few better habits and broke some old poor habits. Best thing that came out of it was reviving the old compost bin here and making sure I'm shutting off lights & electronics when not using them. Feel like I'm making a better impact on my environment and had a successful eco-challenge. -
David Wright 10/24/2016 10:36 AMStill keeping green. I've done lots of recycling lately and things to save power but this weekend I did a little something different by just going for a walk to relax. Something different to do for the eco challenge and reminded me how nice it is to be silent for a little while and just walk. -
David Wright 10/19/2016 1:01 PMLast night I picked a few things out of our garbage that could be recycled like bottles and cans. It's all for the cause and don't worry I washed my hands. Next step may be to bring compost from home to be used in the bin here at work. There's a strange satisfaction watching the compost bin being filled now that we all are doing it. Go team! -
David Wright 10/18/2016 10:55 AMI've composted my daily apple and banana the past couple days here at Portland Community College to be used in their learning garden. Our composting bin hasn't gotten much use the past month so I'm trying to revive it. Still going strong! -
David Wright 10/17/2016 8:22 AMSince my apartment complex doesn't recycle glass and all the recycle bins fill up fairly quickly I took all my recyclables to a separate site. Glass I ended up just taking to Fred Meyer as part of my grocery run and recycled there. -
David Wright 10/14/2016 12:01 PMStill keeping green. Shutdown my computer yesterday instead of sleep mode as well as a bonus of shutting off lights I wasn't using. I turned down the fridge and freezer temp on my refrigerator since they were higher than they needed to be.
I'm going to keep with the goals I have above but since they're not things I really deal with each day I'm going to try and do something extra. Guess we'll see what I can come up with. -
David Wright 10/13/2016 2:19 PMThis EcoChallenge I chose a few things that are simple but I just don't have the habit of doing. Leaving the computer on, not recycling things if my apartments don't have a bin, using disposable plates, and forgetting to bring my own bags to the grocery store are all things I can do throughout my life. Today, turned off computer at home and put a few spare grocery bags in my car to use next time I shop. So far so good.
