David Zhu 10/27/2016 8:36 AMJust fixed my bike! Now to start cycling to work again!-
David Zhu 10/28/2016 10:05 AMThanks, Kate! The left pedal had gotten "stuck", in the sense that it couldn't rotate freely around its mount point. In the future I might go in and really take a look at how I can get that unstuck, but I've got 2 spare left pedals for now and I don't have an issue with riding with mismatched pedals. I'd say that unless your bike has a really serious problem, there's nothing all that intimidating about bike maintenance. In fact, some simple regular maintenance can help prevent more serious problems; for example, lubing the chain every week greatly extends the life of your chain and gears, and finding and/or replacing chains and gears is likely something best done by a bike shop. At the moment, all I have in terms of tools are a wrench (for pedals), and a bike tube repair kit (that came with small tools to pry tires off in order to get to the inner tube). -
Kate Barber 10/27/2016 2:24 PMNice! What was wrong with it? Getting better at bike maintenance is one thing I'd like to learn to do. For some reason, all the metal, gear, and parts are super intimidating to me, although being able to do my own repairs will probably really help me in a pinch. And I will probably have more in my wallet because of it!
