I learned that it is easier to not buy random things in the store than I thought it would be. I also learned that walking outside helps when you aren't feeling well. Nature is a beautiful thing that I have not really lived in harmony with... I am hoping that as I continue to walk outside and spend less on trivial things, I will learn to appreciate nature and money more.

If you are ever looking for a good charity to donate those gently used, and reuseable items you weeded out during your simplicity challenge. Below is a link to the Purple Heart Foundation that help those military  veterans who were injured during war time combat actions. just a simple phone call is all it takes to arrange for a pick up, and the donations are tax  deductible.

I had a lot of fun. learned a lot more than I thought I would over past two weeks. From  volunteering time to learning about Seafood diets and it's impact on our environment. A lot more fun that I thought it would be.

I had fun participating this year. it motivated me to finally make skyr (icelandic yogurt) which I've wanted to do for over a year. it turned out great. i also attempted an Icelandic cheese made from leftover whey - which was a major fail. Learning about LED lights from the guy at Ace convinced me to try them

Now I plan on replacing all my incandescents as they burn out. this challenge also convinced me to explore a hiking area I've been driving past for years. overall it's been a very positive experience and I'm eager to see what further benefits the various changes I've made well bring in future.

Just got back from taking our four legged child out to the local dog park so he could mingle and play with his freinds. Nice little hour or so jaunt to get out in between the dripping cloud systems that have been rolling through all week.

This eco challenge has been more successful for me than previous ones - I feel by focusing on small actions I have developed new habits I can continue to pursue, rather than something larger that I stop doing after the challenge is up. In particular, I really enjoy setting aside a single time to check social media each day - it's brought me additional focus and lets me look forward to new pictures of my nephew on facebook at the end of the day.

It has been a humbling experience keeping track of what I am grateful for, realizing that even though there may be things that I want, that I am certainly not lacking!
