Nancy Vorsanger 10/19/2016 9:26 AMTimed myself today--4-min shower, water turned off for part of it. -
Nancy Vorsanger 10/18/2016 5:07 PMAnother short shower--helped along by my desire to maximize my available time for a quick get-together I carved out with my friend. :-) I have also been taking what I think is called a navy shower--turning off the water while I'm soaping up. -

Nancy Vorsanger 10/17/2016 9:31 AMI've been taking shorter showers--but I have to confess: I have to very consciously work at it. It's so easy for me to zone out once the water hits me. But I'm hoping that over time, as I get used to doing it faster, the habit will take hold.-
sherri curley 10/25/2016 10:37 AMI feel your pain. Especially this time of year when a hot shower is manna from heaven.

sherri curley 10/17/2016 9:13 AMHaving just returned from a trip to the southwest, I was hyper aware of my personal water usage in the desert. I truly hope that was reclaimed water hydrating the golf course in the photo below. The recent monsoons account for some of the green, but the aridity is harrowing on your skin and body's hydration. -
sherri curley 10/17/2016 9:04 AMHow awesome to have the opportunity to read, return and receive a 50% refund for books bought at participating airport bookstores. The books are then resold as used books keeping the reading cycle going. I bought 2 books for a recent trip (I prefer not to bring library books in the event I lose them) and upon my return to the airport, I received my refund. On the flip side of the bookmark is a list of participating vendors and their locations. Love this idea! cycle going. -
sherri curley 10/10/2016 4:18 PMI enjoy drinking Numi Organic Tea. Furthermore, I am impressed with their commitment to the environment. Their boxes boast an Eco-Responsibility Audit with the number of trees saved, energy reduced, etc. although I cannot say for certain what the veracity of their claims are. However, I am bothered by the non-recyclable/non-compostable packets in which the tea bags are stored. I contacted Numi this morning. Their knowledgeable customer service rep. advised me that this situation has bothered them for quite some time. They have been diligently searching for an eco-worthy alternative that will preserve the tastes of their teas (I noted that many other brands use recyclable paper packets). She added that this quest has been going on for quite some time, and they believe that their new compostable prototype might be the answer which they plan to launch in the near future if it meets their quality specs. They deserve kudos for taking their mission seriously and because their customer service operator was entrenched enough in their processes that she could respond immediately to my inquiry. Now if we could get Steven Smith teas on board with this type of thinking esp. since they are in Portland of all places.! -
sherri curley 9/08/2016 7:44 AMI am currently enrolled in http://reduceyourwasteproject.com/less-is-more-class/ taught by the stupendously knowledgeable Betty Shelly and her husband Jon. If you live in the Portland area, keep your eye out for the next session. Our first class was Tuesday night, and it was engaging and chock full of useful tidbits.
