Wow!! I really enjoyed this year's EcoChallenge.  There are definitely things I could work on, like taking my hot to-go mug with me to coffee shops and trying to take more walks - today was a perfect day to do that, but I was so busy running around today.  Another goal could be to try to meet people within walking distance so I can drive less.  Bouncing from N Portland to 82nd to downtown was not great.

For this last day of the challenge, I find myself in a challenging setting. I'm visiting my family and thus don't have much of the infrastructure I've amassed to be able to be green. For example, at my house I have buckets and catches in my kitchen and bathroom sinks to collect greywater to flush the toilet or water the garden. While I could attempt to find similar technology here, the culture does not accommodate such changes. I'm looked at as weird because right now I'm not drinking water from a bottle or chowing on breakfast from a paper plate. So, to be green in this environment I have to be sneaky. Like, pee on the bushes and dig out recyclables from the trash sneaky. Let's see how I do!

Have been taking less showers. Not too bad...listening to my body and I feel like I need less. Also, am inspired by a friend who no longer takes showers, just wash clothe bathes.

Watched a documentary called "food chains" which highlighted the gap between the billions  made by supermarket giants vs criminally underpaid Latino farm workers. Photo illustrates how supermarket chains' profits are even higher than huge $ machines like Apple.

For my workplace garden, some of our garden beds are under an overhang and do not receive winter rain. So! I've been putting our watering cans under drippy spots from our roof to collect water for the plants that regularly someone would get faucet water for.

Carrying my trash with be has been both a challenge and incredibly eye-opening. I produce more trash than I thought. I will definitely be more aware from here on out.

I have enjoyed these challenges. I hope to continue after the 15th day, but also want to  have a hard cider and piece of chocolate.
