Well, an hour in the pouring rain is not without its challenges, but it's also not without its rewards.

Hmm...somehow I think jumping in puddles is definitely going to help meet the requirements of all 3 of my chosen challenges this year...

My profile images illustrate my 2016 EcoChallenge. One is me spending some serious quality time outside here in Oregon (at Cape Lookout), and the other...well...ever hear of arcology? It's a portmanteau of architecture + ecology, and it's the guiding principle at Arcosanti in Arizona, which is where I lived for a couple of years before I came to Portland (and where I met my Portland-raised partner). It is also where I will be for half of this year's EcoChallenge. Arcosanti is pretty photogenic on its own, but James Eads' painting (called "Consciousness Forming") is still one of my favorite depictions of the place. I'm so delighted to have my EcoChallenge linking these two wonderful worlds!
