Emily Herbert 10/25/2016 6:14 PMIt is a bit motivating to see where we stand with other teams. -
Emily Herbert 10/21/2016 1:33 PMWith so much of huge import happening in the world of climate, these things seem very piddling. -
Emily Herbert 10/14/2016 2:17 PMthis is good as it forced me to write a letter to Gov Kate Brown today. As the decider in chief, she can do more than she is doing for a livable climate. -
Emily Herbert 10/11/2016 6:17 PMSome ideas about who to write to about what: Governor Brown to encourage her to use her power to preserve public safety by establishing a moratorium on expanding train traffic carrying Bakken Shield fracked oil through Oregon. Thanks to Sen Jeff Merkley for his leadership in "keep it in the ground" and urging him to recognize that fracked gas is not a bridge fuel because of methane leakage. Urging Rep Blumenauer to oppose the TPP because of the lack of accountability to environmental standards, workers rights, and corporate tribunals settling disputes instead of rule by law of the countries attempting to protect their ecosystems.. Urging your Oregon State Rep to move on putting caps on carbon emissions in 2017 as those bills are proposed.. Writing to President Obama, urging him to stop the development of tar sands and other pipelines that could harm native lands and cultural artifacts. It is time to move off carbon fuels to a fossil free future!-

Emily Herbert 10/04/2016 1:43 PMI have to say that I was dubious about doing this. Hadn't I already done everything possible as an individual? But Sherry reminded me that contacting politicians was a huge item and I can do that....and many other things I haven't done fully. so glad you all are here too!-
Sherry Hall 10/05/2016 8:40 AMThanks Emily. I hope many more of us will take on the challenge of contacting elected officials too.
