joan fish 10/27/2016 4:40 PMNot 100 % completed, but much accomplished because of the 2-week time frame. If it rains tomorrow, that's it. If not I'll do a tiny bit more for this year. Some will have to wait for another time. I am delighted with what was accomplished with my son's help in just 2 weeks. Thanks for the challenge. -
Meltem Narter 10/27/2016 12:50 PMI had acquired 2 one gallon containers filled them with water, I was to drop them into my toilet washer tank to save 2 gallon per flush. I was so proud of myself until I opened my tank to discover it did not look anything like I knew of tanks. It had a built in smaller size tank in it,that was flushing with force. Opps, my new house already had low flush toilets unbeknownst to me. Now that I got I could not save any more water per flush, I started wondering whether I could reduce number of flushes w/o disturbing my sense of order, cleanliness. Sharing this story, in hopes you would find it amusing. Sometimes life turn out simpler than I think it is. -

joan fish 10/26/2016 4:48 PMFinished pruning the Heavenly Bamboos--whew! I accidentally broke off a piece I did not intend to break; I hope it will forgive me and grow in the planter where I put it. Friday rain is predicted, so I must finish cleaning two areas--the Clivias and the plants in the strawberry planter tomorrow. It was great to have this incentive to do so much work in my back yard. -
joan fish 10/25/2016 8:39 PMBeautiful day, clean air after the rain, and a feeling of fall in the air. I worked at cleaning current plants--I was amazed at how I neglected them during the hot summer. I am still pruning the Heavenly Bamboo--about 80% done. I keep asking myself "is this really necessary?" Maybe not, but I can't stop now after I am almost done. They are beautiful plants and deserve to look great. The new plants seem to be doing well (Hummingbird Yucca and California Fuschia). -
joan fish 10/24/2016 4:03 PMWe had a wonderful rain last night, so today was a clean-up day. -
