MultCo Moves
Multnomah County
This is the Wellness Progam-sponsored subteam for Multnomah County. We believe your health matters--and, often, what's good for your health is also good for the planet and our local community! We try to eat whole foods, lots of plants, sourced locally. We try to get out of cars and walk, bike, and bus more. We drink lots of water--and use reusable containers to do so. We're not perfect, but we try to make a difference and feel great doing it!

October 28 at 1:02 PMWhat with our gray, rainy October weather it hasn't always been easy to remember to turn off lights around my house. Winter is the hardest time for that because it is more pleasant to have a little light than a mostly dark house on a dark day when the sun goes down by 5:30pm.

October 28 at 12:36 PMStill working on getting more sleep. Didn't think this would be my biggest challenge but the desire for self time is greater than I expected. Got more last night. Let's see if two nights in a row is possible.

October 28 at 9:27 AMWhen tracking purchases you, of course, are more wary of what you are buying. Hence I bought less and really tried to keep the packaging down to a minimum.

October 28 at 9:14 AMAs I de-clutter my home I have used the convenience of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) donation pick-up services http://pickupplease.org/schedule-email/?+%28Open%29+-+%2823%2F25%29+-+10%2F24%2F16. I think de-cluttering is an on-going event.

October 28 at 9:07 AMThis past summer I attended a Master Gardener plant sale event and sat in on a presentation about vegetable gardening. A book that was suggested was the Square Foot Gardening which I picked up used at Powell Books. I have begun the process of setting out and preparing my plot, since laying down the mulch, to begin in Spring.

October 28 at 8:18 AMThanks for keeping me mindful of my eating, my activities, my whereabouts, and my health!

October 27 at 2:55 PMKnowing how much my participation, however small, has contributed to the greater good makes me feel very happy!
